Lamar Utilities Board (LUB) serves 167 square miles of service area including Lamar and throughout Prowers and Bent Counties. LUB has approximately 408 miles of overhead distribution lines and 39 miles of overhead subtransmission lines. Both the overhead and underground electric facilities serve approximately 4,249 customers in a safe, reliable, and cost effective manner. Unfortunately, some overhead power lines pose an electrocution or collision hazard to birds. As a result, LUB has incorporated avian protection practices in its construction standards.
